A child of two creative teachers, artists, early surfers and outdoor enthusiasts, my expression and formal education fell first to music. After a long career of performance and teaching music, my need for visual expression caught up with me, and in 2005, photography became my tool. My first camera - a brownie box which my father gave me at the age of 7 - is still active and I experiment with both new and old photographic techniques - everything from digital, to film based using handmade cameras or hand applied photo emulsion exposed in sunlight.
Raised in Pacific Grove, as a fourth generation Californian, my will for travel, discovery and creativity took me on a cumulative journey of 25 years in Africa and Europe. Now, back “home” in Monterey I feel I have come full circle.
Since 2007 I have had solo exhibits and been in a number of collective exhibits both in Norway and California. In 2008 I had an article in Color Magazine. In 2009 my “Ocean” exhibit opened in Son Spa Hotel in Norway. I offer Portrait Photography, Workshops in Alternative Photographic Techniques and Fine Art Photography. I am a member of the Center for Photographic Art, Carmel and proudly serve as Director of Image Makers Photographers of Monterey.
When not behind a camera, you will most likely find me on the beach, playing flute or drumming Brazilian percussion!
